Example Definitions of "217 Unforeseeable Emergency"
217 Unforeseeable Emergency. A severe financial hardship to the Participant resulting from (a) an illness or accident of the Participant or his or her spouse, beneficiary or dependent (as defined in Internal Revenue Code Section 152, without regard to Sections 152(b)(1), (b)(2) and (d)(1)(B)); (b) loss of the Participant's property due to casualty; or (c) other similar extraordinary and unforeseeable circumstances arising as a result of events beyond the Participant's control, such as medical expenses or funeral expenses... for the Participant's spouse, beneficiary or dependent (as defined earlier in this subsection).
